Citrus pops on the nose, and the wine finishes stony, dry and refreshing.

Greco Ryme Cellars, Russian River 78
a real head scratcher... skin-contact fermented Greco, with lots of nutty, oxidised and toffee like flavours, but still refreshing and very food worthy. The salty note on the finish makes for really interesting pairings. This is a medium-plus bodied wine, with medium-minus acidity. Clean, relatively lean despite all the flavour and not overly viscous.

a well textured, but still fresh, mid-weight white wine. Doesn't have the oak punch that the Giacomo Mori Toscana Bianco had, but it's still palate-coating and very fulfilling.

"pungent pop of rose petals and flowers, super inky. This is a low-acid, easy drinking wonderful pizza wine. Thoroughly medium-bodied, and will medium to medium minus tannins. "

"An amazing pizza wine! Rich concentrated red fruit on the palate. Punchy concentrated dried rose and cherry on the nose -- almost like pomegranate syrup. All this packaged in a wine that's no bigger in body than medium+ with an easy-going and mild acidity. It's rich enough to stand up to big flavours, but it's lovely side-by-side tomato sauce dishes/pizze thanks to the mellow acid profile. Serve it chilled to really blow people's mind. Back in the 18th Street days of the pizzerie, I would have killed to have a bottle of this and a pizza at the park!"

"Deep dark plumy fruit -- nose is heady and bold, palate is full. Hallmark hint of rose petal lingers in the backdrop. Good, balanced acidity makes this a great osteria wine and easy pick for red wine lovers! For those unfamiliar with Nero d'Avola, it's great stand in for Southern French reds, Côtes du Rhône / GSMs and such."

full in the mouth, with a rich black plumy perfume that start in the nose and blooms in the palate. This wine is not shy with pronounced tannins that make the wine feel dry. But the ripe fruit, and pungent nose both help balance this out.

"A light-medium red Pinot-like color in the glass. Shows aromas of red and black fruits, with balsamic hints. Medium weight on the palate but very flavorful, with a long on the finish and excellent balance. This wine has far more weight and complexity than you'd expect from the relatively pale color (as is true of Pinot Noir and Nebbiolo, of course). " - McCrum
